Calligrapher Usui Hokyu
Born September 23, 1984
Hiroshima → Kyoto → Tokyo → Kyoto
After working as a graphic designer, DTP operator, and fine art printing sales representative, he began studying under Professor Takeda Soho in 2017.
He is unique in proposing calligraphy from a designer's perspective, and he creates everyday life in the future from a premise story, running his brush through MUJIN in all directions.
In December 2022, I was awarded a pen name by the Futaba Calligraphy Club, to which I belong.
My master, Takeda Soho, gave me the character "phoenix" to use as my name, so I became "Usui Hokyu."
Like a phoenix, I intend to fly freely on the path of calligraphy.

「つくる」のこだわり
『つくる』という漢字は主に3つ「作」「創」「造」があり、私はこの3つの漢字がものづくりの工程と考えます。
素材や技術をあれこれと試し、目的のモノをこしらえ出します。
目的のモノからさらなるアイディアを求めてインプットとアウトプットを繰り返します。
そのモノが媒体として出来上がった時の「日常」をイメージし、本質が引き立つモノに仕上げます。
そして、また私は「作る」作業から始めていくのです。
この世に『造られたモノ』が、より洗練され、愛に育まれたモノになるのが私の「書くモノ」「造るモノ」です。
